The iShares Euro Corporate Bond 1-5yrs and 0-3yrs ESG ETFs are top in the short-term euro corporate bond category, with Morningstar downgrading their ratings from Silver to Bronze due to sector call limitations. Manager José Garcia-Zarate noted tactical duration calls can be made at low cost, but active managers can add value with the less liquid segments.
With €4.1 billion in assets, the iShares € Corp Bond 1-5yr ETF is the largest in its category, offering above-average duration and capturing market upside. While its volatility is higher than average, its low costs and accurate performance tracking are positive attributes. Active managers have room to create value through various strategies.
The iShares € Corp Bond 0-3yr ESG UCITS ETF, with €3 billion in assets, is the second largest in its category, focusing on ESG criteria and excluding controversial sectors. It shows a bias towards quality stocks and favorable financial exposure. The sustainability rating is three globes, indicating low risk and a commitment to environmental responsibility.
