South Africa is considering offering additional incentives to automakers to offset the impact of President Trump’s car tariffs. The country is exploring expanding the Automotive Production and Development Programme to mitigate the effects on the industry. The National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa is concerned about the 25% U.S. import tariff on cars, affecting exports worth $1.8 billion in 2024. South African-based manufacturing plants like BMW, Ford, and Toyota will be affected.
