Meta Platforms is seeking to raise $29 billion from private capital firms to build AI data centers in the U.S. Discussions are advancing with firms like Apollo, KKR, Brookfield, Carlyle, and PIMCO. The company aims to raise $3 billion in equity and $26 billion in debt to strengthen its AI infrastructure.

The fundraising reflects Meta’s commitment to AI, with a $14.8 billion investment in startup Scale AI. CEO Mark Zuckerberg pledged to spend up to $65 billion this year on AI expansion. The move aims to solidify Meta’s position against competitors like OpenAI and Google in the AI technology landscape.

Meta is working with Morgan Stanley to arrange financing, exploring ways to make the debt more easily tradeable. Major tech companies are investing heavily in data centers for AI services. Microsoft plans an $80 billion expenditure in 2025 to expand data centers for AI capacities.

Apollo Global Management is reportedly in talks to lead a $35 billion financing package for Meta’s data center development in the U.S. Meta and Carlyle declined to comment, while other firms did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The move underscores the growing demand for specialized data centers to support AI technology.
