GelreGroen JV secures contract with Rijkswaterstaat for Dutch highway project, emphasizing sustainability
Rijkswaterstaat secures a major contract with GelreGroen JV for a highway project in the Netherlands, involving HOCHTIEF, John Laing, Dura Vermeer, and BESIX. The project includes extending the A15 highway by 12km and widening the A12 and A15 roads over a 23km stretch, with completion expected by 2031.
The contract covers planning, construction, and maintenance until 2051. Delays pushed the project start to January 2026, featuring 45 bridge structures, ten traffic junctions, noise barriers, and a 2.5km bridge over the Pannerdensch Canal. Sustainability is a key focus, emphasizing green construction methods and material reuse.
HOCHTIEF recently expressed interest in constructing an AI ‘Gigafactory’ in Europe. GelreGroen JV aims for an environmentally focused design for the Dutch highway project. World Construction Network originally reported the news.
