Meta Platforms has introduced Instagram Teen Accounts to enhance online safety for users under 18. These accounts offer parental controls, content visibility management, and messaging moderation. Safety features include time limit reminders, sleep mode, and age-specific protections.

The company aims to address concerns about young users’ safety by implementing additional safeguards. Instagram Teen Accounts provide parents with insights into chat activity, the ability to set time limits, monitoring of topics of interest, and restricting access to the platform at certain times.

Meta plans to roll out Teen Accounts in the US, UK, Canada, and Australia within 60 days, with a later launch in the European Union. These changes are designed to tailor the online experience to teenagers’ developmental stages and provide appropriate protections for younger users.
