A German court ruled in favor of Nokia in a patent dispute with Amazon.com, finding that Amazon used Nokia’s patented video technology without a license. Nokia’s Chief Licensing Officer stated that Amazon was selling devices illegally without proper licensing.

Amazon expressed disagreement with the ruling and expects a quick resolution. The company assured that existing customers won’t be impacted and Fire TV devices will still be available.

Amazon claimed it had partnered with companies to license video patents but argued Nokia’s demands were excessive. Amazon said its offer was fair and aligned with market rates, but Nokia rejected it.

In July, Amazon sued Nokia for infringing on Amazon patents related to cloud-computing technology. Nokia had previously filed a lawsuit against Amazon for using its multimedia inventions in various countries.
