The U.S. Supreme Court upheld a law giving TikTok until Sunday to be bought by an American company or be banned. Lawmakers on both sides praised the ruling, with Democratic Rep. Frank Pallone calling TikTok a national security threat and Republican Sen. Tom Cotton blaming ByteDance for the app’s fate.

TikTok CEO thanked President-elect Donald Trump for his efforts to find a solution to keep the app available in the U.S. Trump, who tried to ban TikTok during his first term, is now working to prevent its shutdown. The new law allows Biden to grant a 90-day extension for finding a buyer.

Lawmakers urged the app to be saved, with Democratic Senator Chuck Schumer calling for an American buyer to free TikTok from Chinese influence. Republican Rep. John Moolenaar urged ByteDance to participate in finding a solution to keep the app operational. The White House indicated that the decision on TikTok’s future will fall to the next administration.
