Billionaire investor Bill Ackman’s Pershing Square Holdings portfolio has lost nearly 14% this year, excluding gains made on Wednesday when markets surged after Trump paused most tariffs for 90 days. The losses, primarily from the previous week, were due to sharp global declines in reaction to the administration’s tariff plans.

In the first quarter, Pershing Square Holdings slipped just 1.2%. Ackman, known for investing in U.S. stocks like Nike and Chipotle, expressed concern about the proposed tariffs on X, warning they could trigger a recession. He suggested maintaining tariffs at 10% to pressure China, while pausing reciprocal tariffs for 90 days.

Trump’s tariff pause on Wednesday led to the S&P 500 index jumping over 9%. Ackman, who delivered a 70.2% gain in 2020, has seen losses in his portfolio this year. His investment trends are closely followed in the industry, making his opinions influential in financial markets.
