Amazon Prime is putting ads on movies and TV shows starting in late January—and the only way to avoid them is to pay more
From Fortune:
Starting next month, Amazon Prime Video users will start seeing ads on movies and TV shows. On January 29, Prime will include ads, with the option to pay an additional $2.99 to keep content ad-free. The tech giant also plans to include advertisements in its Prime service in other countries next year. Amazon stated that they will aim to have fewer ads than traditional TV and other streaming providers and the revenue from ads will allow them to continue investing in content over the long term. This news comes as a surprise for many Amazon Prime Video users and may cause some to reconsider their subscription options.
