Apple can sell its latest smartwatches again after court pauses FTC import ban

From Dow Jones & Company:

The latest Apple Watches, including the Series 9 and Ultra 2 with blood-oxygen feature, are available for purchase again in the United States after a U.S. appeals court temporarily blocked a government import ban following a patent dispute with medical-technology firm Masimo Corp. Both watches were pulled from the market last week when the ban went into effect.

Apple filed an emergency request for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit to halt the ban at least until redesigned versions of its watches are considered by U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The appeals court’s decision will allow the department to consider the new designs, with a fix expected by January 12th.

The legal victory for Apple will allow the company to continue selling the Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2, providing relief for the tech giant after the ban went into effect and the watches were pulled from the market. Masimo declined to comment on the court’s decision.
