European Shares Seen Flat To Higher At Open

European stocks are expected to open flat to slightly higher on Friday. Asian markets mostly traded lower but are on track to end a two-year losing streak. The MSCI’s index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan is set for a 5% annual gain. The dollar is expected to end 2023 with a 2% loss. Oil prices are set to close the year 10% lower. Gold is poised for its strongest annual performance in three years. U.S. stocks ended narrowly mixed overnight, and European stocks slipped after dovish Fed bets.
In economic releases, initial claims for unemployment benefits rose more than expected, and November pending home sales were unchanged. The Dow hit a new record closing high.
