From Fortune: Project Veritas lawsuit over stolen diary of Biden’s daughter isn’t First Amendment issue: judge

From Fortune:

Criminal prosecutors are set to be granted access to over 900 documents related to the alleged theft of President Joe Biden’s daughter’s diary, following a judge’s rejection of a First Amendment claim by the conservative group Project Veritas. The documents were acquired during raids and were to be turned over to the investigators by January 5, according to the ruling. A judge rejected Project Veritas’ First Amendment arguments and noted that the organization couldn’t claim it was protecting the identity of a confidential source from public disclosure after two individuals publicly pleaded guilty in the case in August.

The pleas came after two Florida residents, Aimee Harris and Robert Kurlander, found and stole items from Ashley Biden’s friend’s house, and later sold the diary and belongings to Project Veritas. While Project Veritas denied any criminal activity and their CEO resigned, they weren’t charged with any crime. The lawyers are considering appealing pending the release of the documents.
