Chinese electric car manufacturer Nio unveiled a new flagship model, the ET9, at its “Nio Day” event. The car features self-developed technologies including semiconductors, autonomous driving technology, fast-charging electric drive, and large cylindrical battery cells. Nio also announced plans to add 1,000 battery swapping stations and double its public chargers in China in 2024. The company is betting on these technologies and infrastructure to increase the appeal of its electric vehicles to consumers and improve its profit margin in a competitive market. Nio recently secured $2.2 billion in new investment from a UAE-backed investment vehicle, making it one of the largest investments a Chinese electric vehicle company has secured this year.
