Rally May Stall For China Stock Market

The Shanghai Composite Index climbed 1.38 percent to 2,954.70 yesterday, with strong gains from property and resource stocks. However, financials remained soft. The Shenzhen Composite Index also surged 2.30 percent. US bourses were mixed and little changed, with the major averages showing choppy trading. The Dow added 0.14 percent, while the NASDAQ dipped 0.03 percent and the S&P 500 rose 0.04 percent. Crude oil prices fell 3 percent to $71.77 a barrel on easing concerns about trade disruptions. Claims for U.S. unemployment benefits rose more than expected last week.
