This Christmas, the price of gold has surged, with New York gold futures trading around $2077 an ounce, a 14% increase year to date. This ends a two-year losing streak and is set to finish the year near the record close of $2081.90 reached Wednesday. The value of gold rings has also increased, sparking the question of whether they will be worth even more by next Christmas.
