Treasuries Edge Lower On Final Trading Day Of The Year

Treasuries continued their downward trend on Friday, with the yield on the benchmark ten-year note inching up by 1.6 basis points to 3.866 percent. The recent pullback comes after a period of significant strength in the markets, and the ten-year yield remains little changed for the year. In separate economic news, Chicago-area business activity saw a substantial downturn in December, with the MNI Indicators Chicago business barometer dropping to 46.9 from 55.8 in November, indicating contraction. This was well below economists’ expectations of a drop to 51.0.
