90% of execs waiting for AI hype to pass: BCG survey

AI is the hot topic at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland this week. CEOs are either eager and implementing AI at breakneck speed, or waiting for it to move beyond the hype. A wide-ranging BCG study shows that 90% of the 1,400 executives surveyed are waiting for GenAI to be less hyped, or experimenting cautiously.Just 3.9% of all U.S. businesses used AI in 2022, and many companies are slow to adopt the technology – largely due to a lack of talent and skills to effectively implement AI. AI skills are in high demand, with most executives feeling that their teams lack proficiency in AI. Some old companies and AI startups are ahead of the technology race.
