‘Absurd,’ Says Elon Musk About Denial Of India Of Permanent Security Council Membership As UN Secretary General Calls For Reforming The Global Body

Tesla CEO Elon Musk and United Nations Secretary General António Guterres discussed the lack of global representation in the UN Security Council. Guterres called for global governance reforms and expressed concern over Africa’s lack of representation. Michael Eisenberg suggested India’s inclusion, and Elon Musk agreed, stating that India and Africa should have permanent seats. The Security Council currently has 15 members, including 5 permanent members with veto power. India has sought permanent membership but has faced opposition from China. Tesla has been working on entering the Indian market, but progress has been delayed due to disagreements with the Indian government over import duty cuts and localizing manufacturing.
