Alaska Airlines grounds Boeing 737 MAX 9 for checks after blowout By Reuters
From Investing.com:
Alaska Airlines is grounding its fleet of 65 Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft after a cabin panel blowout forced Flight 1282 to make an emergency landing with 171 passengers onboard. The new MAX 9 was delivered in October and certified in November. The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are both investigating. Boeing is also gathering information and preparing to support the investigation.
Flight 1282 experienced a rapid decompression at 16,325 feet, causing a panel to separate from the aircraft and a window to malfunction. According to safety experts, the incident underscores the importance of passengers keeping their seatbelts buckled for safety, even when the fasten seatbelt light is off. Last week, Boeing urged airlines to inspect all 737 MAX airplanes for a possible loose bolt in the rudder control system. The 737 MAX was grounded for 20 months after two fatal crashes in 2018 and 2019, and the FAA is awaiting certification of the MAX 7 and MAX 10.
