Ashley Park reveals she’s recovering from septic shock

Ashley Park received emergency care in three hospitals overseas and spent a week in the ICU after getting tonsillitis while traveling. The condition spiraled into septic shock, a clinical emergency that affects about 230,000 people annually in the U.S. She has now recovered and is grateful for her health improvement, vowing to be okay in a heartfelt Instagram post.

Septic shock is a severe condition that can lead to organ failure and death. It occurs when the body is unable to fight off an infection, causing severely low blood pressure even after fluids are given. Symptoms of sepsis, which include heavy breathing, fever, and chills, advance to heart palpitations, lightheadedness, and a decrease in urine production during septic shock. It is treated with antibiotics, fluids, and other medical interventions in the ICU.

Ashley Park is grateful for her health improvement after enduring “excruciating pain” and being in the throes of recovery from septic shock after developing tonsillitis overseas. Despite her struggle, she assures her fans she will be okay, vowing to stay connected after being “absent recently to so much and to people in my life.”
