Bill Ackman’s wife is accused of plagiarism after her husband crusaded against Harvard’s president over the same problem

From Fortune Magazine:

Bill Ackman’s wife, Neri Oxman, is under fire for allegedly plagiarizing parts of her 2010 doctoral dissertation at MIT. Business Insider reported that at least one passage was lifted without citation. In another development, Bill Ackman cited plagiarism allegations against Harvard President Claudine Gay among the reasons he called for her removal.

Oxman and Ackman responded to the allegations on social media. Oxman acknowledged that she paraphrased another author without citation and apologized for not properly crediting the work. She specialized in “material ecology” and left MIT in 2020 to start her own company called Oxman.

The 47-year-old Oxman has an interesting background, having been a first lieutenant in the Israeli Air Force and a professor at MIT’s Media Lab. She is well-educated, holding a Ph.D. in design computation from MIT and specializing in fields such as computational design and synthetic biology. She married Ackman in 2019.

Despite the controversy, Oxman has moved on from MIT and started her own company, Oxman, which aims to advance innovation in product, architectural, and urban design. This news reveals a scandal in academia and sheds light on Oxman’s career and background.
