Wall Street billionaire Clifford Asness is defending his fundraising for Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley after Donald Trump threatened to bar any of her donors from the MAGA camp. Asness, from AQR Capital Management, is hosting a fundraiser for Haley with other Wall Street billionaires in New York. Stand for America Fund Inc., which backs Haley, raised $50.1 million, outraising the Trump campaign’s super PAC by about $5 million. Haley and Trump exchanged barbed comments. Trump’s original post uses a derogatory nickname for Haley. Clifford Asness responded with a dig at Trump over his legal issues and criticized the former president. AQR Capital Management and the Trump campaign did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
