China has seen moments of strong growth in 2023, but is also dealing with long-term economic issues and tensions with the U.S. 2014 will bring challenges as the country adjusts to a lower growth range following the strong growth of past decades.

Investors are anxiously watching for signs of stimulus in China’s economy after 2023 did not see the country rebound as quickly as expected following the end of Covid-19 controls. Several international investment banks revised their growth forecasts multiple times last year, resulting in a widely expected growth of around 5% for the Chinese economy.

There are also expectations of growth in global revenue for Chinese companies and a return to growth in producer prices, boosting corporate earnings per share by about 8% to 10% in China.
