BYD is now the global leader in sales of electric vehicles, overtaking Tesla. The automaker’s low prices and ownership of their entire supply chain allows them to keep costs low. They plan to export much cheaper models to markets around the world, including the U.S., and are scouting locations for a new manufacturing plant in Mexico. Ford claims that American automakers are “not quite yet ready” to compete with Chinese rivals on EVs.
