Climate activists splatter ‘Mona Lisa’ with soup

From Fortune:

Environmental activists threw tomato soup at the Mona Lisa at the Louvre museum in Paris, but the painting was not damaged. The group behind the action, Riposte Alimentaire, is calling for food rights in a “civil resistance” campaign. Culture Minister Rachida Dati condemned the attack, and the museum plans to file a complaint.

This protest is part of a larger trend of climate activists targeting artwork, with several charged for throwing soup at Van Gogh’s Sunflowers painting in 2022. This kind of activism is part of a movement calling for the right to healthy and sustainable food. The Louvre museum was temporarily closed for cleaning after the incident but has since reopened.
