Consumer Sector Update for 01/02/2024: BRC, HGV, CLAR, CALM

Consumer stocks saw a mixed afternoon, with the Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLP) increasing 1.1% and the Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLY) down 1.2%. Brady (BRC) shares rose 3.8% after an upgrade from BofA Securities, while Hilton Grand Vacations (HGV) shares added 2.8% following an upgrade from Jefferies. Conversely, Clarus (CLAR) shares fell 4.9% after agreeing to sell its Precision Sport segment for $175 million. Meanwhile, Cal-Maine Foods (CALM) is acquiring assets from Tyson Foods (TSN), causing their shares to fall by 1.6%.
