Consumer Sector Update for 01/31/2024: PARA, PARAA, EBAY, SLGN

Consumer stocks were down Wednesday, with the XLP and XLY both losing ground. Paramount Global shares surged 8% after a $14.3 billion bid from Allen Media Group founder Byron Allen, while non-voting shares gained over 24%.
EBay has agreed to pay $59 million to settle alleged Controlled Substances Act violations over pill presses and encapsulating machines sold through its website. EBay shares were down 0.5%. Silgan rose nearly 6% after reporting Q4 adjusted earnings of $0.63 per diluted share, beating analyst expectations.
