Coursera’s CEO says leveraging AI in online learning is key to a more accessible, flexible education experience in 2024

Coursera, a major player in online learning, has seen a massive increase in users, totaling over 129 million learners today. With AI, the platform is now offering languages and a personalized learning companion named Coach. AI is also being used to create new content and courses by Coursera’s 300+ university and industry partners.

Coursera’s CEO, Jeff Maggioncalda, believes that using AI for good can make learning more inclusive. AI has made translations into 17 languages easier and more affordable. AI is also being deployed in the form of a personalized learning companion, named Coach, and is being used to help build courses and develop content as well.

Coursera has introduced pathway degrees, where users can first take a certification or specialized course and then apply those credits towards a degree program. This is part of Coursera’s goal to provide the most adaptive, personalized, and effective learning experience possible.

Totaling over 129 million users today, Coursera also boasts 185 university and 125 industry partners who use the platform. As technology advancements happen faster than ever, schools can’t keep up. Coursera aims to provide cheaper and more flexible educational journeys as well as unique opportunities with pathway degrees.
