Disney asks for delay in DeSantis’ appointees lawsuit over control of Walt Disney World district

From Fortune:

Disney has requested a second delay in their court case with Gov. Ron DeSantis’ appointees over control of Walt Disney World’s governing district. The request has come after a district employee confirmed that DeSantis’ take over of the board has led to the departure of around 50 of its 370 employees.

The battle for who controls the Disney World governing district has led to turmoil with ongoing politicization, turmoil, and legal and administrative shake-ups.

The Florida district provides municipal services for Disney World’s 40 square miles in central Florida. The recent turmoil stems from DeSantis’ controversial takeover of the district’s board last year, following Disney’s opposition to the state’s “don’t say gay law”.

Disney has argued that it needs more time to prepare for a motion in the state court case, as it claims that the governor’s office has failed to produce requested documents. The district has accused Disney of attempt to “score political points” and engaging in a “fishing expedition.”

The ongoing legal battle and DeSantis’ appointees’ background, including an appointee who has recently come under scrutiny for a sexual relationship, have caused ongoing distraction and turmoil within the district.
