FTC probes Microsoft, Alphabet on AI antitrust concerns

Alphabet, Amazon and Microsoft are being investigated about their investments in artificial intelligence. The US Federal Trade Commission sent subpoenas to the companies to collect information about their more than $19 billion in AI investments. The FTC is looking into how the tech giants’ financing affects AI competition. There have been inquiries into OpenAI’s consumer protection laws violations. Apple and Google plan to embed powerful new AI features into their tools. Meanwhile, the UK and the EU are also reviewing Microsoft’s partnership with AI entity OpenAI. The EU executive arm also investigates agreements between digital market players and generative AI developers.
