Gen Z loves self-checkout because it makes shoplifting easy

A new survey shows Gen Z and Millennial shoppers prefer self-checkout, but Gen Z is twice as likely to shoplift using this method. Retailers that rely on self-checkout technology are rethinking their strategy as intentional shoplifting rises. Amazon is doubling down on technology, while American retail giants are cutting back on self-checkout options. Despite the push for more technology, theft remains an issue, as a technology Amazon installed in 2018 still allows some theft.
