Google Cloud announced that customers who want to migrate their data to another cloud provider will not be charged network fees for the transfer, a cost charged by other providers like Microsoft’s Azure and Amazon Web Services. This move comes after Britain’s media regulator raised concerns about these fees discouraging customers from switching cloud providers. Google Cloud’s head of platform, Amit Zavery, stated that restrictive licensing practices were more of a barrier for customers than data transfer fees. AWS leads the cloud computing market, followed by Azure, and Google is a distant third. This change in Google Cloud’s policy is global and takes effect immediately.
