Peter Courtney has been promoted to corporate vice president of legislative affairs and Betsy Bina Benedict will join HII to serve as the director of legislative affairs. Courtney succeeds Carolyn Apostolou who retired in December after 10 years with the company. Courtney will develop lobbying strategy and oversee compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. He will work on ensuring positive relationships with the legislative branch in his new role, while Benedict, with 25 years of experience, will report to Courtney and use her knowledge of the House Appropriations Committee to bring value to HII’s legislative relationships.
