IBM orders all managers to move close to an office and go to office 3 days a week
From Fortune:
IBM is asking managers to come into the office at least three days a week or be close enough to commute. Employees who refuse to relocate near an IBM office will need to separate from the company. CEO Arvind Krishna has enforced these new measures to encourage in-person interactions. IBM has implemented these regulations to optimize flexibility and productivity within the company.
IBM is set to reduce jobs, a strategy also used by Amazon and AT&T to encourage return-to-office. Despite these innovations, Kastle Systems reports that office attendance across the US has stalled at around 50% of pre-pandemic levels. Tech areas had even lower percentages. IBM has closed several offices and intends to reduce its real estate footprint. Executives seem confident in IBM’s 2024 outlook, joining other major companies in tightening return-to-office measures.
