India to use SpaceX rocket to launch communications satellite

From Nasdaq:

India will launch a communications satellite using SpaceX’s Falcon-9 rocket, marking the first partnership between the two entities. The high-capacity satellite will enhance India’s broadband communication, especially in remote and unconnected regions. Scheduled for the second quarter of the year, the 4,700-kg satellite surpasses the current capacity of India’s ISRO.

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk is looking to bring Starlink satellite broadband to India and is discussing an investment proposal for a Tesla factory in the country. Despite keen interest, Musk is facing resistance from some domestic industry players. India’s NSIL will own, operate, and fund the GSAT-20 satellite, which provides a capacity of 48 gigabits per second.
