Marcel Telles hands son Max his $6.1 billion stake in AB InBev
From Fortune:
Billionaire investor Marcel Herrmann Telles has donated his stake in Anheuser-Busch InBev SA, the world’s largest beer maker, to his son, Max Van Hoegaerden Herrmann Telles. Telles is a partner of the private equity firm 3G Capital and holds a 50% stake in Stichting AK Netherlands, which owns 33.47% of AB InBev. The stake is worth $6.1 billion, now held by his son, Max, who also inherited his voting powers.
In December, the shares of AB InBev were transferred to Max, replacing his father as one of the individuals holding joint ultimate control over BRC. The company has faced recent controversies, including backlash and calls for a boycott from conservatives and the LGBTQ+ community, resulting in a decline in sales and lost status as the top-selling beer in America. AB InBev has disavowed campaigns and faced community critique.
At 73, Telles is the youngest out of investment trio, with 11 successors in total. Telles donated shares held in other companies to his other children, Christian and Max. With a net worth of around $11.2B, Telles co-founded 3G Capital in 2004 and has extensive experience in the beer and finance industry. Max, while relatively under the radar, has worked as a financial analyst and interned at various financial companies before training at AB InBev.
