Meet the AI-powered robots that could change the multibillion-dollar window-cleaning industry forever

From Fortune:

Two companies, Verobotics and Skyline Robotics, are collaborating to revolutionize building maintenance by creating AI-driven robots designed to clean and inspect skyscraper facades. These automated robots may be the solution to making the estimated $40 billion window-washing industry safer and more efficient, while providing building owners with proactive maintenance data to reduce costs. Not only does AI-driven technology make exterior upkeep safer and more efficient, but it also significantly reduces on-site labor costs by 75 percent, particularly for such a dangerous job. Despite the rising need for facade cleaning and maintenance, window washer shortages are becoming a concerning issue, but the use of robotics technology gives younger workers an opportunity to learn new skills. As a result, robots like Verobotics’ Ibex and Skyline Robotics’ Ozmo have been implemented in major cities like New York and London to support and work in tandem with human window washers. Considering that most facade checks for high-rise buildings currently occur on a 10- to 15-year cycle, the use of AI-driven robots is seen to be crucial in providing data that will help building owners to best map out construction projects and repairs. This proactive approach is set to be the game-changer in the building maintenance industry, with the potential for 10-20% improvement in the operational efficiency of building maintenance.
