Merck, J&J CEOs agree to testify in Senate hearing on drug prices

US Senator Bernie Sanders spoke at a rally protesting pharmaceutical companies opposing lower prescription drug costs. Senate hearing on drug prices will take place on February 8th with CEOs from Merck, J&J, and Bristol Myers Squibb testifying. The companies will have to explain the high drug prices in the U.S. compared to other countries. They will also discuss why they have been charging higher prices for medicine in the U.S. than in other countries. Pricing issues will be focused on high-priced drugs such as J&J’s Imbruvica and Merck’s Januvia. The hearing will aim to reduce drug prices to make them more affordable.
