Microsoft (MSFT) Q2 2024 Earnings: What to Expect

Shares of Microsoft have risen 70% over the past year, compared to a 22% increase in the S&P 500 index, while Apple and Microsoft compete for the title of the world’s most valuable company.

Microsoft’s artificial intelligence investement in OpenAI has upped the company’s value. Monetizing AI, Microsoft has launched Copilot, which is used by 40% of Fortune 100 companies.

For the quarter that ended December, Microsoft is expected to earn $2.78 per share on a revenue of $61.1 billion. This compares to the year-ago quarter when earnings were $2.32 per share on $52.75 billion in revenue.

The projected full-year revenue growth has doubled from a 6% to a 15% projected growth. CFO Amy Hood mentioned that Generative AI “absolutely should be the fastest $10 billion business we’ve ever built.”
