The European Union has expressed concerns about Microsoft’s financial support for OpenAI, indicating that it may be subject to EU merger rules. After investing over $10 billion in OpenAI with a non-voting position, Microsoft has denied owning any portion of OpenAI. Additionally, the Commission is evaluating agreements between large digital market players and AI developers. Margrethe Vestager, EU antitrust chief, has invited feedback from businesses and experts on competition in virtual worlds and generative artificial intelligence.
