More EVs lose US tax credits including Tesla Cybertruck, Nissan Leaf By Reuters

New sourcing rules mean many electric vehicles no longer qualify for up to $7,500 in tax credits, including the Nissan Leaf, Tesla Cybertruck AWD, and Chevrolet Blazer EV. The change affects 43 to 19 eligible EV models. Volkswagen is hopeful MY2023 and MY2024 ID.4s will be eligible. Ford E-Transit lost $3,750 tax credit. General Motors expects affected vehicles to regain eligibility in early 2024. The 2022 Inflation Reduction Act impacted nearly 70% of eligible models. Tesla’s Model 3 Rear-Wheel Drive and Long Range vehicles lost tax credits, but the Model 3 Performance retains the $7,500 credit.
