NVIDIA CEO Discusses Future of AI-Accelerated Healthcare

From NVIDIA:

NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang spoke at the J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference, stating that every industry will become a technology industry. Kimberly Powell, NVIDIA’s VP of healthcare, announced that Recursion will be the first hosting partner to offer a foundation model through the NVIDIA BioNeMo cloud service. This advancement is set to go into beta this month.

NVIDIA is now deeply involved in accelerated healthcare thanks to the use of GPU acceleration in projects that apply to CT imaging and molecular dynamics. Computer-aided drug discovery has made huge strides, leading to the belief that more of the drug discovery process could largely occur in silico, or via computer.

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang stated that the future of drug discovery will be led by AI and called it “genuinely miraculous.” With the help of state-of-the-art AI models, powerful computing platforms, and collaborations with domain experts, NVIDIA is pushing this field forward. The company’s pipelines for accelerated healthcare include algorithms for cryo-electron microscopy, X-ray crystallography, gene sequencing, amino acid structure prediction, and virtual drug molecule screening.

NVIDIA is set to transform medical instruments, claiming medical instruments will never be the same. Jensen Huang stated that medical instruments will now always be a device plus a whole bunch of AIs, leading to incredible value and opportunities. For more from NVIDIA at the J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference, listen to the audio recording and view the presentation deck from Powell’s session.
