OpenAI has banned the developer of a bot mimicking Democratic presidential candidate Dean Phillips, citing misuse of AI tools in a political campaign. The super PAC supporting Phillips received a $1 million investment from billionaire Bill Ackman and had contracted with AI start-up Delphi to build the bot. OpenAI suspended Delphi’s account for violating its rules. Dean.Bot, which conversed with voters through a website, was taken down after the suspension. This early use of AI technology in elections has raised concerns among researchers about its potential impact on the democratic process.
