Sensex, Nifty Marginally Lower In Lackluster Trade

Indian shares struggled for direction on Monday, with the Sensex down 64 points and the Nifty down 6 points. Britannia Industries, Hindustan Unilever, Bharti Airtel, Mahindra & Mahindra, and Eicher Motor fell, while Coal India surged 2.6% and Tata Motors added 1.8%. BPCL, UPL, and Grasim were up more than 1%. The rupee was down 3 paise at 83.19 against the dollar after two consecutive sessions of gains. Most global markets remained closed for New Year’s Day, contributing to the lack of direction in Indian markets.
