Southwest Airlines takes Boeing Max 7 out of fleet plan for 2024

Southwest Airlines ranked second on Bounce’s 2023 Airline Index. The company has removed the Boeing 737 Max 7 from its fleet plans due to certification delays. Southwest expects to receive 79 aircraft this year, down from a contracted 85. FAA has no timelines for certifying the Max 7 and Max 10 aircraft. The agency will prohibit Boeing from planned production increases of the 737 Max, potentially causing delivery delays.
