The threat landscape is intensifying due to the rise of AI, with 75% of cybersecurity professionals citing the current landscape as the most challenging in 5 years.
Top cybersecurity company Trend Micro predicts 2024 will pose new challenges with AI, ML, cloud, and Web3 technologies. The company runs a free 10-week training program to address the growing skills gap and aims to increase diversity in the field.
The Next-Gen Cyber Defenders program provides technical training and may lead to industry-recognized product and cloud-computing certifications. Participants might obtain job opportunities upon completion and students may leave with an AWS Certification.
More than half the participants of the program landed a job at Trend Micro, with the program operating in the U.S. and internationally.
Potential program candidates will have graduated with an ICT-related bachelor’s degree, relevant experience, or knowledge of networking concepts. Individuals without direct cybersecurity knowledge are also encouraged.
Selena Dao joined the program in 2020 with no prior IT experience and became a successful cyber sales engineer at Trend Micro. The best candidates for the program demonstrate willingness to be collaborative and have enthusiasm for learning about the subject.
