Twitch, OBS & NVIDIA to Release Multi-Encode Livestreaming
From Nvidia:
Twitch, OBS and NVIDIA are teaming up to enhance livestreaming technology with the new Twitch Enhanced Broadcasting beta, powered by GeForce RTX GPUs. This new feature will allow streamers to stream multiple encodes concurrently, providing optimal viewing experiences for all viewers.
Many streamers face the challenge of choosing between higher resolution and reliable streaming. The new Twitch Enhanced Broadcasting beta aims to address this issue by allowing streamers to broadcast up to three resolutions simultaneously at up to 1080p, using the high-quality dedicated encoder NVENC in modern GeForce RTX and GTX GPUs.
In the coming months, Enhanced Broadcasting beta testers will be able to experiment with higher-input bit rates, up to 4K resolutions, up to 5 concurrent streams, as well as new codecs including the latest-generation AV1 for GeForce RTX 40 Series GPUs, which provides 40% more encoding efficiency than H.264, and HEVC for previous-generation GeForce GPUs.
Enhanced Broadcasting will automatically configure all OBS encoder settings, simplifying the setup process for streamers. This feature will also use a server-side algorithm to return the best possible configuration for OBS Studio based on the streamer’s setup, ensuring the best viewer experiences.
Streamers can sign up for the Twitch Enhanced Broadcasting beta at twitch.tv/broadcast, with enrollment based on a first-come, first-served basis starting later this month. Additionally, RTX GPU owners can download the NVIDIA Broadcast app, powered by dedicated AI Tensor Cores, to further elevate their livestream capabilities for microphones and cameras.
