U.S. Weekly Jobless Claims Unexpectedly Edge Down To 202,000

First-time claims for U.S. unemployment benefits slightly decreased, falling to 202,000 in the week ended January 6th. This was 1,000 lower than the previous week’s revised level of 203,000. The four-week moving average also dropped, reaching 207,750, a decrease of 250 from the previous week’s revised average of 208,000. Economists had anticipated claims to rise to 210,000 from the originally reported 202,000. (Source: RTTNews)
