United AIrlines grounds Airbus flight after door issue alerted to pilots
From Fortune:
A United Airlines flight diverted to Tampa, Florida, due to a possible issue with a door. The flight was en route to Chicago from Sarasota and carried 123 passengers and 5 crew members. The Airbus A319 landed safely and took off later after the issue was addressed. Last week, a similar issue occurred with a Boeing Max 9 jetliner.
Tampa airport spokesperson reported a door indicator light turned on, prompting the plane’s diversion. Fire crews met the plane, but there were no reports of any injuries. Tracking data from FlightAware shows the plane was airborne for less than an hour. A spokesperson said the diversion was done as a precautionary measure to address a possible mechanical issue.
The airline stated that the flight diverted to Tampa to address a possible mechanical issue, and the plane later re-departed after the issue was resolved. The incident was reported by WFLA-TV. Last week, an Alaska Airlines flight had a similar issue with a plug that takes the place of a door on some Boeing Max 9 jets. United Airlines assured that the diverted flight landed safely and later re-departed.
