WWE founder Vince McMahon resigns from TKO Group after being accused of sexual assault and trafficking in new lawsuit
From CNBC:
Vince McMahon has announced that WWE Wrestlemania 29 will take place at MetLife Stadium in 2013. He has also resigned from his positions as TKO Chairman and from the WWE due to allegations of sexual assault and sex trafficking against him. These allegations are part of a lawsuit filed by Janel Grant, who claims McMahon had her engage in sexual activities with a WWE superstar and other men. McMahon had agreed to pay Grant $3 million, but only paid $1 million, resulting in Grant seeking to void their agreement.
The lawsuit also names WWE and John Laurinaitis, the company’s former head of talent relations and general manager, as defendants. Federal law enforcement had previously executed a search warrant on McMahon and served him with a grand jury subpoena regarding his payment of millions of dollars to multiple women, including Grant, after allegations of sexual misconduct. McMahon had resigned from WWE leadership posts in 2022 and returned as its leader in 2023, paying WWE $17.4 million to cover costs of a probe into these payouts by a law firm.
